First, when your household power is on, DRYTROL®II sump pump battery backup maintains the batteries at peak efficiency by applying a continuous charge to the backup sump pump batteries. Your batteries will be at their maximum operating voltage the moment a household power outage occurs.
Second, DRYTROL®II battery backup has built-in, solid - state sensing and switching. The important transfer from household to battery power is completely automatic and instantaneous, and accomplished without electromechanical devices that wear and fail over time.
Third, DRYTROL®II battery backup converts the battery power to clean, energy efficient AC power. DRYTROL®II's battery backup power is almost as efficient as your household power. All AC sump pump battery backup sump pump systems do not produce this type of efficient power! Your sump pumps, running on DRYTROL®II's high efficiency power, will have less drain on the batteries resulting in longer available running time, quiet operation, and less wear and tear on your sump pump motors. |
DRYTROL®II is the only AC sump pump backup system with all these features!
Batteries are an important part of
DRYTROL®II
sump pump backup performance. We recommend high quality, deep
cycle maintenance free lead acid batteries of the highest amp/hour
rating available (minimum 90A/h). Standard well-cell or AGM
batteries can be used. The main advantages of AGM batteries are that
they are completely sealed, have no liquid to spill during shipping and
handling, and require no maintenance.
DRYTROL®II battery backup time depends on the amp/hour rating of the batteries, the current (amp) draw of your sump pump motor, and the actual running time of your sump pumps. The graph listed below illustrates the relationship between pump duty (% of running time) and expected available running time on DRYTROL®II backup power. The graph data is based on two 120 amp/hour batteries and an 8 amp sump pump.

Sump
pumps normally cycle on and off. Frequency and cycle time depend
on the sump pumps' pumping capacity, the rate of water flowing into the
sump pit, and the volume of water. Realistically, a sump pump will
not run non-stop. A typical example would be a pump duty of 16%,
where the
DRYTROL®II
sump pump backup will run for about 24 hours.
In the unlikely event that a sump pump were to run 100%
continuously (non-stop),
DRYTROL®II
sump pump backup will run for about three hours.
